It was once made right into a movie of a similar identify in 1959, directed by way of Kon Ichikawa and starring Eiji Funakoshi. David C. Stahl has famous that Morris expunged sections the place the narrator makes transparent that he's manipulating the memoir, whereas Ichikawa considering the helplessness of the person within the face of struggle. In either models, the Tamura personality is extra passive and vulnerable than within the unique work.
